Goods and Services Tax (GST) is an indirect tax used in India on the supply of goods and services. Our GST calculator helps you find either the gross or net price of your product based on a percentage-based GST rate.
When you want to add GST to a base price, the formula used is:GST Amount = (Price × GST Rate) / 100Net Amount = Price + GST Amount
Example: If the price is ₹1,000 and GST is 18%:GST Amount = (1,000 × 18) / 100 = ₹180Net Amount = 1,000 + 180 = ₹1,180
When the price already includes GST and you want to find the base value:GST Amount = (Price × GST Rate) / (100 + GST Rate)Net Amount = Price - GST Amount
Example: If the total price (including GST) is ₹1,180 and GST is 18%:GST Amount = (1,180 × 18) / (100 + 18) = ₹180Net Amount = 1,180 - 180 = ₹1,000
Note: In the Indian GST system, for intra-state transactions, this GST amount is usually divided equally into CGST (Central GST) and SGST (State GST). For inter-state transactions, it is charged as IGST (Integrated GST).
